I was there again... Penang Street Demonstration

Yes... I was there again, to witness the headline… This was my 1st time in Penang to experience the demonstration by the Malays youth which lead by the UMNO after BN lost the 12th GE, the demo was lead by Penang Umno secretary Azhar Ibrahim… All the road nearby Komtar had been closed… all shops in Prangin Mall also closed, massive traffic jam around Penang and Penang bridge, road block all over Georgetown… But the situation there never frighten me… coz it’s an under-controlled demonstration.

Why they demo so publicly? Do they have any permit from police? Why the FRU didn’t use the water canon or tear gas to chase the protestors away? May be there are some conspiracy behind all this!!

We Penangite love peace!! Rumuors said they are all imported from other state and disturb the stability of Penang… Please respect the result of the 12th GE!! To all “foreigner” don’t disturb Penang anymore!! Our Penang government needs time to settle down and improve our state.

From my observation, the crowd gathered there were around 500, much much less than the Ceramah held by the DAP… and my advice to all friends… Malays, Chinese and Indians…. Don’t respond to the act of these youth. As Pak Lah (anyway Pak Lah is the president of UMNO) said b4 that’s not the culture of Malaysian… they are trying to provoke the emotion of all races… stay away from them!! Let the police handle it….

So, please!! Don’t demonstrate in Penang!! Demonstrate it in Pak Lah’s home town … If Malays had been sidelined, it’s the fault of the system implemented by the federal government and it’s nothing to do with the newly born Penang government!!

Respect the Law and Election result of Malaysia!! We need peace!!

p/s: very curious... if the police read the Star, then they will know who the organizer is... why the police didn't arrest anyone? They don't dare? Is the ISA still implemented? What the UMNO leader did are very irresponsible and will provoke racist crisis... I hope the police will take action ASAP.

Some 500 Umno members and supporters staged a brief protest outside the Penang state government office in Komtar this afternoon.

The crowd - which gathered there after Friday prayers around 2.30pm - chanted slogans such as 'Don’t sideline the Malays' and 'Do not abolish the NEP'.Upon being instructed by the police, the crowd dispersed some 15 minutes later. No untoward incidents were reported.

The protest, led by Penang Umno secretary Azhar Ibrahim, to protest Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's declaration that the new DAP-led state government would do away with the New Economic Policy (NEP) policies.

Earlier today, Inspector-General of Police Musa Hassan had warned that the gathering in Komtar would be declared illegal and arrests would be made against the protestors.

However, no arrests were made this afternoon.
